Official handing over to SOMA NAWEC of the electricity extension project provided to Soma Sare Mawdo and Soma Darusalam by Mansakonko Area Council in partnership with Gamworks held on the 15th of October 2019 in Soma town.
The Chief of Jarra West Alh. Yaya Jarjusey thank the Council for what he call a timely gesture being provided to the community of Soma Sare Mawdo and Soma Darusalam respectively. He indicated that, any project have a beginning and when someone is helping you, you should also help yourself. Chief Jarjusey finally thank Gamworks and NAWEC for their support.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Council Mr. Paa Sait Ceesay said today is another important day in the history of Mansakonko Area Council. He disclosed that the project is a four million dalasi project and the beneficiaries should take ownership of the project. CEO Ceesay urged the tax payers to be paying their taxes, because without the tax council cannot undertake its development aspirations. He stated that the Council revenue areas are very limited and tax payers should sit and reviewed the tariff of rates & taxes.
The Honourable Governor of LRR Mrs. Rohey John greeted the gathering, and said the project is a milestone in the development of LRR. She thank the Council for the service provided to the people of Soma Darusalam and Soma Sare Mawdo. Governor John gave a special thanks to Gamworks for making this project a reality. She finally urged the beneficiaries to take ownership of the project.
The Chairman of the Council Mr. Landing B. Sanneh in his keynote address said the people of the Communities have the right to have such a project, because they are the tax payers and bearing in mind that 60 percent of the Tax paid should be plough back to the tax payers. Chairman Sanneh thank NAWEC for supporting the Council up to the finishing stage of the project. He call on the Communities of Soma Sare Mawdo and Soma Darusalam to take ownership of this magnificent project. He finally thank Gamworks, the Alkalo of Soma, The Chief of Jarra West and the Gikoko ward Councillor for their collective support towards the project.
The ceremony was chaired by the Admin officer of Mansakonko Area Council Mr. Buwa kinteh.
