In his remarks, the Chairman Landing B Sanneh thank the Governor for the warm welcome in her office. He said, he think if you have a Guest, you should meet and introduce one another and furnished him or her with the necessary information required. Chairman Sanneh disclosed that Council is a key stakeholder to the office of the Governor and should work together as one people with same aims and objectives. He further informed the Madam Governor about the medium term strategy development plan which was done at the grassroot level, were all regional authorities was invited together with the tax payers. He said the priorities areas in the strategy plan, is the plan of the region but not Council alone. Chairman further reassured the Governor that the Council is ready to make changes in the development of LRR and the Governor should also count on the Council. Chairman Sanneh notify the Governor about the creation of special economic Zone project (SEZ) which is on the pipeline.He said the corridor project is a opening opportunity for the people of soma and Farafenni to transform both places to be the major economic Zone areas. He stated that the project will includes joint border post, business facilities and service centres. He said in that you can register your business without going to Banjul. Chairman Sanneh informed her about the coordinating key stakeholder committees which was constituted to coordinate the said project. He stated that the funders are ADB, EU, AUDA and NEPADr respectively. He finally thank the madam Governor for sparing her time.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Council Mr Paa Sait Ceesay thank the madam Governor, he disclosed to her that so many revenue areas has being taken from the Council especially the car park dues, and the subvention from the central Government are not forthcoming and as stakeholders, we should look in to that aspect.
The Governor of LRR Mrs. Rohey John Manjang thank the management of the Council for visiting her office. She assured the Council that her office cannot work without the Council and what is important at the back of our hearts is to accept one another and respect one another, and put political differences aside. She indicated that information sharing is key and without information, you cannot do things at the right time. She said as Gambians we can do it, when we change our attitudes, Characters and have good sense of direction.
